2008 & 2010 Winner
Cleveland City Dance – Diana Yohe
Diana first received the scholarship award at the age of 13, having been in dance programs for a decade. Not only is Diana an accomplished dancer, with children’s roles in various ballet performances and summer intensive experience with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Juilliard, but she is an excellent student, holding down a 4. 2 GPA in high school with an intensive AP and honors curriculum. For Diana, dance is more than just a performing art, as a means of expressing herself — “I feel like when I’m dancing, I’m saying more than I could with words. I can forget reality, let go for the moment, and reveal my heart and mind to my audience.” Diana sees winning the scholarship as motivation for proving herself as a dancer and a person, and as a way to continue pushing her limits.
